National Grid: An Upside Is There, But I'd Wait For A Small Drop
National Grid's dividend cut and funding snag led to a drop in share price, but I see potential for growth and solid yield. I stand by my "Buy" rating for NGG stock, doubled my investment stake following funding needs for this utility. Gas-fueled assets remain core to the UK's needs despite renewable plans.

Bert's July Dividend Income Summary (2024)
In July 2024, we received $1,683.75 in dividend income. We have been buying at least 4 shares of SCHD every single week. I accepted a long time ago that Leggett & Platt's dividend cut was terrible.

Dividend Income: Lanny's July 2024 Summary
In July, we (my wife and I) received a dividend income total of $2,836.82. 2023 was up 24%. 7 months down in 2024 and the S&P 500 is still up almost 13%, despite the recent sell-offs. We have a high likelihood of a rate cut in September, but too much speculation is happening beyond that date. Time is ticking on that FOMC meeting.

U.K. Top 40 Quality Dividend Stocks: Summer 2024
Unfortunately, UK investors have had to suffer weak or negative capital gains in recent years to get those high yields. The good news is that the UK remains an attractive market for dividend investors. Don't forget that companies usually retain some of their earnings to fund expansion and growth, so dividends have (on average) grown ahead of inflation over the medium and long term,.

National Grid has received a 91% take up for its £7 billion rights issue, with the shares left unsubscribed to go to the underwriters Barclays and JP Morgan to find buyers or else take them up themselves. National Grid: Rights Issue Highlights Lack Of Compounding
A couple of years after the step down of baseline compensation for the transmission network, the distribution concession is now also seeing lower baseline comp. Transmission is growing because RAB gets indexed to inflation, but a lot of the growth was non-recurring and otherwise has to be financed by large basically obligatory CAPEX. The compensation at fair values by Ofgem means that there's no outstanding compounding engine here. It's why they needed to do a rights issue equity raise.
